The Obelisk at Aelamir

Aelamir was a small settlement of the Age of Song, a fishing village set a few hundred metres back from the southern shore of Lake Hallowglass. It was abandoned so long ago that no record survives of who lived there, or why they left. What remains is a scatter of foundations and broken walls, and the soft lines of streets the grass has nearly taken back, ornate in the fluid manner of that age and otherwise without distinction.

At the water's edge stands the obelisk, the village's old marker on the lake. It rises some thirty feet, its dark stone still smooth and its carvings still sharp after centuries of weather, though their meaning is lost to anyone now living. To travellers along the coast it is a memorable waypoint in an otherwise plain stretch of shore, and the surest way to name this place at all. Little else distinguishes Aelamir. It is known, it is findable, and it is otherwise of little note.
