Dalfon

Dalfon presents as a tall figure in a white overcoat, his manner courteous and unhurried, his speech carrying the quiet authority of one long accustomed to being heard. He came to the heroes first in a shared dream, and then in person at the Obelisk at Aelamir, after the raiders there lay dead, resolving out of a wisp of cloud and leaning on a cane that never quite met the ground. He greeted them with a word he said comes from where he is from, 'Oroboros,' and named himself the one who had set the dream upon them.

By his own account Dalfon is an ancient being who has gathered the heroes for a purpose. A relic of great power and danger is sought by people who must not have it, and it must be found first; he claims he cannot walk that road himself, having many concerns already in motion. As earnest of his intent he gave them coin and goods, and asked them to seek the temple bound to the green ring, somewhere near Crownhold. He deflects plain questions about himself, allows that he is no god, and says only that he follows the ordered gods as many in the Vale do.

He did not keep the appointment the dream had seemed to set. Only after the raiders lay dead did he come — gathering out of a wisp of cloud beside the obelisk, leaning on a cane that never quite found the ground, and greeting the six as 'Oroboros.' He named himself the sender of their dream, set before them the green ring near Crownhold as the thing they must find, and the raiders of Nikros as the danger ranged against it. He left them coin and goods, and a means to call him back to the obelisk, but would not walk the road at their side — too many concerns, he said, already in motion. Then he was gone as he had come.
