Vesarin is a memonek who keeps the door to the office of the Concordate, at the threshold of the bone-pale Age-of-Song complex that surrounds the Great Library. Smooth-skinned and precise, the faint metal filigree of his kind showing beneath porcelain, he meets every arrival with unfailing courtesy — and, as often as not, with a courteous redirection. Few who reach his door are the door's true business; most he sends onward to someone else's desk.

When Squam came seeking the Great Library, it was Vesarin who met him at the door, heard him out with perfect politeness, and deflected him toward the official Cathrynna Veneresc — sparing himself, as Cathrynna well understands, the longer conversation. He gave his name when asked, wished the dragonkin a lovely day, and returned to his post.
