Gerald

Gerald was the mage who raised Squamderfold, the nearest thing Squam had to both parent and teacher. Almost everything known of him comes through his student: a learned and careful practitioner of the arcane, given to speaking of old histories and of matters most would think long settled. He is spoken of now in the past tense. Squam has not said plainly where he went or how he died, and carries his teacher's memory closely; on occasion, in a tight moment, he still hears his teacher's voice.
